Q-Med is a medical device company that primarily develops, manufactures, markets and sells medical implants. Most of the products are based on the company's patented technology, NASHA™, for the production of stabilized non-animal hyaluronic acid.

The company today has approximately 650 co-workers in 20 countries, with approximately 400 at the company's head office and production facility in Uppsala.

Success for Q-Med at IMCAS

January 13, 2010

At the 12th IMCAS Congress (International Master Course on Aging Skin) in Paris from January 8 to January 11, Q-Med presented a number of new devices, amongst other things a new version of the prize-winning Restylane® Injector and a new ultra sharp needle – the “Thin Wall Needle” – that facilitates injection and reduces the discomfort for the patient, along with new treatment concepts for Restylane®. Great interest was shown in the first two years with MacrolaneTM on the market and MacrolaneTM was described as an established, safe and purpose-designed product that is attracting new customer groups.

Restylane® Lidocaine and Perlane® Lidocaine approved in USA

3, February 2010

Restylane® Lidocaine and Perlane® Lidocaine have been approved by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration). Medicis, Q-Med´s partner in the U.S., anticipates shipping the products in the U.S. within the next 30 days. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic. In clinical studies supporting approval, the addition of lidocaine to Restylane and Restylane Perlane substantially reduced pain experienced by patients.
