The first series of products for natural body shaping

Macrolane™ VRF was the first series of products on the market for body shaping to create volume in a relatively simple, safe and natural way. Macrolane is used both in reconstructive and aesthetic contexts. The product was approved for sales in Europe at the end of 2007 and is based on Q-Med’s patented technology, NASHA™.

Many women dream of having a somewhat bigger and above all firmer bust. Maybe the breasts have lost their fullness after breastfeeding and pregnancy, or maybe they have always been small in relation to the rest of the body. But to go so far as to have an operation and put in breast implants can feel drastic for many. The fact is that only 1-5 percent of the women who think about having permanent breast implant surgery go ahead with their plans. Macrolane is an alternative here. By injecting Macrolane the volume of the breasts can be increased. The result is immediately visible after treatment without being permanent. Macrolane can also be used to shape the buttocks and calves and to increase the volume of the chest in men. Macrolane is used for reconstructive purposes, amongst other things to smooth out defects such as old scar tissue, after liposuction or to fill out hollows.

Treatment with Macrolane

There are two versions of Macrolane: Macrolane VRF20, which is used in areas where there is less tissue cover and Macrolane VRF30, which is used where there is more tissue cover. In order to retain the desired result follow-up treatment is recommended after 9-12 months. Normally approximately 50 percent of the original volume is injected when retreating. To inject Macrolane a small incision is made in the skin under local anesthetic and the gel is injected deep under the skin. In breast augmentation a minor or moderate increase in volume can be created in order to achieve form and fullness in exactly the area that the customer wishes. The benefits of the treatment are immediate and long-lasting without being permanent. As the result is not permanent the treatments can be adapted as the body changes after breastfeeding or natural aging. The recovery time is short but after a breast treatment it can be a good idea to wear a supportive bra and to not subject the bust to pressure in the next few weeks.

Alternative to body’s own fat

Previously the body’s own fat was the only alternative to permanent implants for body shaping. However, the body’s own fat involves major surgery under anesthetic where it is first necessary to suck fat out from other places in the body and at a later stage do the actual filling out. It is both a time-consuming and painful method with results that are difficult to assess. Furthermore, many people do not have the quantity of fat that is necessary. Macrolane makes it possible through smaller and simpler treatments using a tissue-friendly product.
